Random Friday
–I realized this week I should have been a meteorologist. Just for the fun of it I looked up the degree requirements. Not gonna happen. I did order a used meteorology textbook from amazon.com for $3 though. I hope to share useless weather facts with you soon.
–I am back at the gym. We have a love-hate relationship. I hate it when I walk in and love it when I walk out.
–Today was French Toast Friday. It is self explanatory.
–I am going to hide my kids, my wife and myself. You know why.
–I read stuff christians like everyday.

Mystery Guest
Through the postings of a few friends, I found out about mysteryguest.com. You sign up to be a mystery guest at a retail store or restaurant. This is not a money making opportunity. You get reimbursed a set price for the meal or product you buy.
I decided to give it a try and found some cool restaurants on there but decided to try The Disney Store instead. You had to bring a child and we had to purchase something for at least $20 and then we would get reimbursed.
We went today and took Emily and I was very surprised at the state of affairs with the retail staff which is now commonplace at most stores. From reading the info we go from the company, we are supposed to be greeted offered assistance and they are supposed to engage with the children and get them excited about being there. We got none of this. Instead we wandered around the store for 17 mins without the 3 “cast members” even acknowledging our existence. Finally we had to ask them a question and received an answer with little value….and they still did not acknowledge we had a child!
It was a bad experience and we gave them a very bad review. It was fun for us though as we observed that store in a whole new way. We will definitely be doing it again.
Random Thoughts
Spent some time with a carpet guy today at church who was taking measurements to replace the damaged carpet. Made me miss my Dad.
I still suck at video games…never have been good at them. Although having fun being sucky at Call of Duty 3.
We are starting learning and missional communities. I am leading one entitle ‘Money Purpose Joy’ following the book by Matt Bell.
Forget to turn on all the lights, the blender, toaster, computers, microwave, coffee grinder, the light bright, and the circular saw in honor of Earth Hour. Thank You Earth for supplying us electricity.
So excited about the Pancake Ministry we are starting. Serving God and others with pancakes, what could be better?
Wished for a little more action on the police ride along. Although Glen Ellyn has not had a homocide since 2003 so it is a relatively sleepy town. Had lots of great stories from Brian Beck though….and we got to speed through residential neighborhoods doing about 60 with siren blaring. That was very fun.
How many years (or months) will it be until we are bailing out the health insurance companies because of the health care reform?
Saw my AT&T friend from yesterday in the neighborhood. Feel sorry for the people who are getting the misinformation from this guy.
I am learning to embrace uncertainty.
So happy to actually have people to invite over for a BBQ.
They say cell phones are distracting. A) How can it be more distracting then talking to the person in the passanger seat? 2) What is the difference between a hands-free device and you having your hand by you ear? Who drives with 2 hands anyways? D) Why don’t they outlaw changing a radio station or driving with your foot out the window?
Sometimes it feels like cheating when we go to church on Saturday. On the other hand, the sabbath used to be Saturday.

Well, I usually post via my blackberry I have not posted for awhile. Got me new blackberry and have put in my blogs email address so I will be posting more often.
