Day 2
Why did I stop running before? I was up to 25 mins and about a 1 1/2 miles Today I struggled just to do 10 mins and 3/4 of a mile. Plus why is it that whenever I start running it is brutally hot or below zero? It is extremely humid to day and still in the upper 80s. Well, day 2 is down. It only gets better from here, right?
Montgomery 5k
I started training for the 5k which is in 5 weeks. It will be tough and a long road from where I am now but I am going to do it this time.

Transformation 2010 4.0
Today begins Transformation 2010 4.0. It is version 4.0 because I have started and stopped several times this year. If I get too focused on that, I will never begin again and stick to it.
I think this is one of the reasons people don’t stick to weight loss, eating right or whatever. We know we have failed at it in the past and think “why bother”. It is possible to change, to make a commitment and stick to it. Most people don’t just decide to do something, do it exactly how they planned and achieve their goal on the first try.
If you aren’t failing, you aren’t trying.
Pushups
Discovered that the pushup is the perfect upper body workout. We did 3 sets of 1 minute regular pushups and diamond pushups to failure. My arms and upper body have not felt this way in a long time.
I need to get my eat on track again. I have discovered I am all or nothing.
Training
Good time in the gym this morning. Did 2 miles and then some upper body. Ate really well throughout the day and then…..
I updated my recruiter on my progress and discussed possible MOS’s (military occupation). Have not made a final decision yet.
Good time with the guys group tonight eventhough there was only 4 of us. We did something different and headed down to downtown Aurora. Good time.
Food
I feel really good about my eating plan right now. I am not struggling with hunger and I am eating a lot of good stuff.
I am in the zone. The zone is where you have complete focus and don’t ever stray from your plan. A good example is when I was making mashed potatoes for the kids. The right amount of butter, milk and seasoning is important but I made Emily taste it to make sure it was good because I didn’t even want to taste and risk giving in to the temptation of ‘more tastes’.
Challenge
Already down a few pounds, as is Larry. It might be close but we will see.
Great workout this morning. Much more intense than usual. Brisk mile walk and then upper body workout.
Larry/Kevin Challenge
Tomorrow morning we weigh ourselves to start our one week weight loss challenge. Larry Boatright is going down.
Challenge
Larry Boatright and I are starting a challenge on Monday to see who can lose the most weight in one week. We both started out at the same weight and are roughly at the same weight right now.
Reading
Just finished "The Real Insider's Guide to Military Basic Training" that I got from the library. Interesting stuff.
Weight is going down but slow. I'll get little spurts here and there even though I don't change anything.
